Battle of Polygon Wood Centenary Commemorations

Interview with Aaron Pegram

For those of you who travelled with us to commemorate the 3rd Battle of Ypres Centenary, we would like to welcome you home and thank you so much for making it such a wonderful trip. Whilst everyone had different reasons for visiting the Western Front battlefields, the camaraderie amongst this group was exceptional and there were many friendships forged as a result.

The tour was led by the wonderful and knowledgeable battlefield guide, Aaron Pegram, who is also the Senior Historian with the Military Section of the Australian War Memorial. Aaron’s research has taken him to the battlefields in France and Belgium on plenty of occasions, and he is highly sought after for his solid understanding of the AIF’s operations, tactics and stories from its campaign on the Western Front.

During the Battle of Polygon Wood Commemorations, Aaron kindly agreed to participate in the ‘A Sense of Place’ segment with Stephanie Brantz during the Reflective Program, which reflects on the experience of the Anzacs 100 years ago. Please click the link below to watch the video.

Aaron received very positive feedback about the Program and his interesting discussions with Stephanie contributed greatly to this success. We would like to congratulate and thank Aaron for all his efforts and look forward to him leading many more of our in-depth battlefield tours.
